The Incubator Series hosted by Arts Club Theatre Company
Throughout the 2021/22 season we will host a series of panels which offer a deep exploration and dissection of some of the current ideas, issues and ideologies linked to being a theatre artist right now.
Held at the BMO Theatre Centre, these panel discussions will give an opportunity for artists to learn from their colleagues, ask questions, speak their minds, and to feel supported and inspired by their peers. The Incubator Series is a place of gathering, collaboration, and inspiration – a night where ideas begin and flourish. Where we take on some of the hard subjects together.
Each panel discussion will be curated and hosted by a local professional theatre artist, and will delve deep into topics, thoughts, and questions connected to theatre – to educate, demystify and bring together artists within our community.
Join us this season as we explore:
Re-entering the Rehearsal Room – as we gradually go back into the rehearsal room after the long pause forced by COVID-19, let’s examine what processes stay, and which ones go as we re-enter and re-imagine working in professional theatre.

THE ETHICS OF BEING AN ARTIST – There is no question that the art we interact with says something about who we are as artists and as people. But when choosing to work on a project, what guides the way? Your ethical compass or your bills? In this pandemic climate of theatre paucity, do artists have the ability to make a choice? Join us to discuss ethics, storytelling, and navigating the theatrical landscape in the present.

Role of the Artist in this Climate Moment - in the midst of a global pandemic & global climate crisis, how much can art actually change, push the scope, and further a positive climate agenda? What are we not doing? What realities do we need to face head-on to actually make substantial impacts?
